It is within that moment, often in the midst of war, when you are whip-lashed by a reality not so kind, that the scales that have kept you in the black are scrapped off your eyes and you witness for the very first time what lies before you unbiased.

They put your mind right in the bag and take it wherever they want.”

~ Malcolm X

The purest awakening ignited by the rolling in of an inner yearning for freedom, not the illusion of it. A yearning that sets fire to your very soul, leaving nothing behind but an anger that sparks change from within. Dying to make sense of what has kept us in the dark for oh so long or so we claim. Waiting to say what need not be said at random , leaving it till the very end though not THE END, well more my own timely end.

Exploitation at its best, rendering all efforts from a past I experienced not, nothing but obsolete. Wake up at sixes and sevens in a panic, fighting to make sense of this chaos created from a double negative, how did we end up here laced perfectly in such an ignorance so insensitive?

“I believe that there will ultimately be a clash between the oppressed and those that do the oppressing. I believe that there will be a clash between those who want freedom, justice and equality for everyone and those who want to continue the systems of exploitation.”

~ Malcolm X

Enticed as ‘carrots are dangled’, drawn away from what is important by mediocre ‘dreams and visions’. When the pain of injustice penetrates through your consciousness  leaving you cold and bare will you wake into a sudden realisation, it is you, it has always been you, you, your mind and soul that have stood in the way of you. Your freedom, hopes and dreams will not come looking for you, it has never been so.
